2010-2011 COMUS CLUB Membership Guidelines
Annual membership dues are $600/couple ($150
per dance), due October 1st. A
$25 late fee will be imposed for payments made after October 1st. Members
are not issued refunds for dances they do not attend. A Comus Club membership
may not be shared by two or more couples. If members cannot attend a dance, they
may send another couple in their place for that dance, but they must link the
couple with a member for that evening and also notify the Comus secretary in advance. A
member may bring a friend if their spouse is unable to attend.
Four dinner/dances will be scheduled during the year. A
fifth
dinner/dance
will be held
if we reach our goal of 55 couples. The social hour starts at 7 pm, the
sit-down dinner starts at 8:00 pm, followed by dancing from 9 pm to midnight.
To secure dinner reservations, members are polled by email about 2 weeks before
the dance. Reservations are guaranteed two days before the dance, so members are
asked to RSVP no later than the Tuesday before the dance. All members are
expected to let the secretary know by email whether or not they will be
attending and who they will be sitting with, even if another member has
volunteered to be the table captain.
There will be
one
guest night
in
December, but out-of-town couples are welcome at any dance. The rate for guests is $175 per couple. Members bringing guests need to include names of
guests when making the reservation for the dance. Members may invite two guest
couples to the December dance. If space becomes available for additional guests,
members will be notified by email one week prior to the dance.
Sponsors are expected to help new members feel welcome, introduce them to other
Comus Members and oversee their seating arrangements for the first year of
membership.
Four couples will be asked to be in the receiving line from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
at each dance. Greeters’ names are chosen alphabetically each year by the club
secretary and will be listed on the club website.
The dress code for all dances, unless otherwise indicated, is Formal/Black Tie.
The Comus Club membership list is not to be used by any person or organization
outside the Club for any reason.
