COMUS CLUB - Membership Guidelines

·        Annual membership dues are $650/couple ($130 per dance), due in September. If past members are not able to attend all 5  dances, they may join at the rate of $150 per couple, per dance. Members are not issued refunds for dances they do not attend. A Comus Club membership may not be shared by two or more couples. Members may not invite non-members to attend dances in their absence, however a member may bring a guest if their spouse is unable to attend.

·        Five dinner/dances will be scheduled during the year. The social hour starts at 7 p.m., the sit-down dinner starts at 8:00 p.m., followed by dancing from 9 p.m. to midnight.

·        To secure dinner reservations, members are polled by email about 2 weeks before the dance. Reservations are guaranteed two days before the dance, so members are asked to RSVP by the Tuesday before the dance. All members are expected to let the secretary know by email whether or not they will be attending and who they will be sitting with, even if another member has volunteered to be the table captain.

·        There will be two guest nights per year (December and the last dance of the year), but out-of-town guests are welcome at any dance. The rate for guest couples is $150 per couple. Members bringing guests need to include names of guests when making the reservation for the dance. Members may invite two guest couples to the December dance. If space becomes available for additional guests, members will be notified by email one week prior to the dance.

·        New members should have attended at least one dance as guests. When a guest becomes eligible to be considered for membership, the guests' sponsoring member needs to propose the guest for membership. Sponsoring member should give details of proposed member (name, address, phone number, and email) to a board member before consideration. Membership will be filled on an availability basis with a maximum of 75 couples.

·        Sponsors are expected to help new members feel welcome, introduce them to other Comus Members and oversee their seating arrangements for the first year of membership.

·        Four couples will be asked to be in the receiving line from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at each dance. Greeters’ names are chosen alphabetically each year by the club secretary and will be listed on the club website.

·        The dress code for all dances, unless otherwise indicated, is Formal/Black Tie.

·        The membership list is not to be given to any person or persons outside the Club for any reason.
